Q: Why do I have to register to use linkAssist?

A: This is so linkAssist can protect your identity. linkAssist forwards responses between users, so we need to have user details to be able to do that.

Q: What personal information about me does linkAssist keep?

A: We ask for your name, address, and email address. You are also asked to provide a telephone number (mobile or landline) so linkAssist can verify that you are not a spam robot.

Q: Who will ever see my personal details?

A: Only you and linkAssist administrators. This information cannot be accessed by other linkAssist users and will never be shared by linkAssist.

Q: How do I know if someone has responded to my notice, or to my response to a notice?

A: You will receive an email from linkAssist with the response. You do not need to log into linkAssist to receive responses.

Q: If I create a notice, how long will it be on linkAssist?

A: For individuals: 2 weeks. For community groups: for up to 1 year For sponsored links: for the period of sponsorship.

Q: What if I no longer want my notice on linkAssist?

A: You can log in to linkAssist and view your profile. This also shows any notices you have created. Here you can PAUSE or DELETE your notice.

Q: What if I want my notice on linkAssist for longer?

A: You can log in to linkAssist and view your profile. This also shows any notices you have created. Here you can renew your notice for a further period. If you do not change any content, your notice will not need to be re-approved.

Q: Why do notices need to be approved?

A: This is to ensure that all linkAssist notices meet with the user terms and conditions and are in the spirit of linkAssist as a community noticeboard for the disability community.

Q: Why do I need to re-set my password if I forget it?

A: linkAssist does not store user passwords. This is so that no-one but you can ever access your account. Because linkAssist cannot tell you what your password is, you need to create a new password if you forget your old one.

Q: Does linkAssist guarantee that the information in notices is accurate?

A: Unfortunately, linkAssist can only check that the information contained in notices meets with our user terms and conditions. We cannot guarantee the truth or accuracy of what is contained in notices.

Q: Does linkAssist read responses to notices?

A: No. linkAssist only forwards notices. We do not read or save any responses between users.

Q: What do I do if I get a response which makes me feel uncomfortable or anxious?

A: Forward it immediately to linkAssist@lifeassist.org.au. We will investigate. If necessary we will suspend or ban anyone who sends inappropriate responses through linkAssist.
